The journey through foster care is a special one, as is living with foster children from a host of diverse backgrounds all with a unique history. This book is for all readers - from people thinking about becoming foster parents, to those just genuinely intrigued about the foster care system, to community members wondering how to make a difference in the life of a foster child.
Foster parents help children with their loss and trauma and towards the development of their God-given abilities. Every child deserves a chance to develop momentum and hope and to work toward a better future.
Though my husband, Ron, and I have been blessed with four biological children, we felt called to give a home to children who had no one to care for them and nowhere else to go. Throughout our years of fostering, I recorded the happiest moments, the hardest days, and many of the children’s comments. As I began sharing stories with friends and family, I quickly realized that what I saw as normal, everyday life was a new world to others. Often, our society views both foster children and foster parents in a negative light. I have thirty years of stories to the contrary.
